FC Barcelona significantly strengthened their attack during this summer transfer window by adding two new forwards, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi. Both of these players made their debuts in the Blaugrana shirt during the first game of the new season, against Elche, which ended in a 5-0 win for their team.
It was a memorable debut for both of them. The German forward marked this event with a goal and an assist while the English winger provided two assists, one to Raphinha and one to Fermin Lopez.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Gordon also spoke to club media after his bright debut, and expressed his happiness with how the Catalan team has started its new season:
“It was a top performance, the perfect start. Five goals scored and none conceded. I’m very happy. I think we played some beautiful football and scored some good goals. The defenders also made excellent last-ditch tackles and blocks. Overall, extremely good.”
The English forward also talked about his adaptation to his new club, and highlighted how his teammates have made it easier for him to adapt to the new team:
“I feel very good since I arrived. I’ve said it already, my teammates have made me feel very welcome and I already feel at home. The city is incredible, the people are very friendly, and I think I’ll improve day by day.”
Lastly, he also congratulated Karim Adeyemi for his good debut in the game against Elche:
“I want to congratulate Karim. He had a great game, scored his first goal and worked very hard defensively to stop the transitions. I’m very happy for him.”
There is no doubt that both Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi fit Hansi Flick’s playing style perfectly, and could prove to be crucial additions this season. Hopefully, they will continue performing at the level they showed in their first official game for Barcelona, and help the team achieve their main objective for this season, i.e., winning the UEFA Champions League.
