Anthony Martial was taken off on a stretcher shortly before the interval as Monterrey beat Club Leon 1-0 at the BBVA Stadium. He had started the match.

The club said in a statement that the forward suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder and that any recovery timeframe will depend on how his condition progresses.

The Frenchman arrived in Mexico in September from AEK Athens and was still adapting to life at Monterrey. He had one goal and three assists in 18 matches this season.

The fixture pitted sixth-placed Monterrey against 16th-placed Club Leon in the Mexican top flight. Martial wears the number nine for the club.

Winner of the 2015 Golden Boy award, he had largely avoided injuries, the previous one dating to April 2025. This setback sends him back to the treatment room.
