Antoine Kombouaré will attend Paris FC’s restart on Wednesday, with his future at the club still unresolved.

With the return looming, it is not yet certain who will coach next season, though contractually it remains Kombouaré, appointed in late February to replace Stéphane Gilli, who had been tied to the club until 2027. According to L'Équipe, the hierarchy have sounded out Bruno Genesio and also spoken to Walid Regragui and Liam Rosenior, while Habib Beye was not considered.

Under Kombouaré, Paris finished 11th, with six wins and only two defeats in 11 matches. The run featured a 2-1 victory over PSG on 17 May, after which he expressed gratitude for the job but said his future was undecided and talks were needed.

More than a month later, the situation remains unclear. Inside the club, some doubted he had the strength to continue because of knee cartilage problems, with one knee operated on late last year, and those close to him were said to favour a period of recovery.

Relations have cooled, with the coach seeking guarantees on the squad and an extra year on his deal, while directors prefer to stick to February’s agreement and wait until early next year to reconsider. Communication has not always been smooth.

A decision is expected soon as Wednesday approaches. He has said he will be at the restart, but it remains uncertain whether he will be on the bench at Troyes on the opening weekend, the weekend of 22 August.
