Anton Stach has shared a worrying image of a swollen ankle after limping out of Leeds United’s FA Cup quarter-final win at West Ham.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the midfielder was forced off in the 39th minute after a heavy Max Kilman challenge, having got a shot away on the counter before rolling his ankle. He briefly returned to the pitch but was soon replaced by Brenden Aaronson.
After Pascal Struijk converted the decisive spot-kick in the shootout, the initial view was that Stach had been struck on the ankle and it was probably a ligament issue. There was hope it would not be too serious, with recognition he had been running the game when he went off.
Stach later posted on Instagram, first sharing the club’s celebratory message with the caption “What an Easter Sunday”. He then uploaded a story of his right ankle looking badly swollen alongside the words “stop acting”, hinting someone had questioned the severity.
He will be assessed further once the swelling reduces this week and is now a major doubt to face Manchester United next Monday.
Leeds’ worries grew in the second half as Joe Rodon appeared to roll his ankle after an aerial challenge and was replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw. Noah Okafor also went off late after going down and rubbing his legs, which was expected following a lengthy absence.
