According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Anton Stach says Daniel Farke deserves recognition for making Leeds United a competitive Premier League side.
After promotion, the task was to avoid the collapse suffered by last season’s trio. Southampton took 12 points, Ipswich 22 and Leicester 25, a combined 59, with grim goal differences and 80-plus conceded.
Leeds kept faith with Farke and targeted athletes who could keep them in games. Stach, at six foot four, covers ground, wins duels and also creates and scores.
Elland Road saluted him during the Burnley win that moved Leeds to 43 points and minus five goal difference. A November slump of one win in seven preceded meetings with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Two down at half-time at the Etihad, Farke switched to a back three and the improved second half ended in a 3-2 defeat. Leeds then beat Chelsea and drew with Liverpool, launching a seven-game unbeaten run.
Stach said the squad and staff stuck together, arguing a good team is proved in defeats as much as wins. He felt they were in nearly every game, aside from the Arsenal meetings, and said fans sang Farke’s name.
The job is not finished, and Leeds could be made safe without kicking a ball if Arsenal beat West Ham on Sunday. Their primary aim of being competitive has already been underlined.
