Anton Stach has posted an image of a badly swollen right ankle after Leeds United’s FA Cup quarter-final win at West Ham, prompting concern over his availability for Manchester United.

He was forced off in the 39th minute following a heavy Max Kilman challenge. Stach had got a shot away on the break, then was cleaned out and rolled his ankle. He returned briefly but was replaced by Brenden Aaronson.

After Pascal Struijk settled the shootout, Daniel Farke said Stach should have been awarded a penalty and described the issue as probably a ligament injury that needs assessing. He hoped it was not too bad, calling the loss of a key player a major setback.

On Instagram, Stach reposted the club’s celebration with the caption “What an Easter Sunday”. He then shared a photo of his right ankle looking very swollen, adding ‘stop acting’ in quotation marks.

Stach will be reassessed once the swelling reduces this week and is now a major doubt to face Manchester United next Monday. Leeds also saw Joe Rodon go off after landing awkwardly, with Sebastiaan Bornauw coming on, while Noah Okafor was withdrawn late on after going down and rubbing his legs, which was expected given his previous lengthy absence.
