Anton Stach has shared a swollen-ankle image after Leeds United’s FA Cup quarter-final penalty shootout win at West Ham, with Daniel Farke describing the knock as probably a ligament injury.
Stach was hurt in the 39th minute after a heavy challenge from Max Kilman. He had got a shot away on a counter-attack, then rolled his ankle, briefly returned, but was replaced by Brenden Aaronson.
After Pascal Struijk settled the shootout, Farke said Leeds should have had a penalty for the foul on Stach. He called the midfielder a key player, felt losing him mid-game was a major setback, and hoped the damage was not too serious.
On Instagram, Stach first reposted the club’s celebration with the line “What an Easter Sunday”. He then added a story showing his right ankle badly swollen alongside the words “stop acting”, hinting that someone had questioned the severity.
He will be assessed once the swelling subsides this week and is now a major doubt to face Manchester United next Monday.
Leeds’ injury list grew when Joe Rodon went off in the second half after landing awkwardly in an aerial duel in the West Ham box, with Sebastiaan Bornauw coming on. Noah Okafor was withdrawn late on with cramp, which Farke viewed as understandable after his long lay-off.
