Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach could have a fresh Germany opportunity after Julian Nagelsmann resigned, with Jurgen Klopp confirming talks over the vacant job.

"Yes, I can confirm the talks. Things moved pretty quickly. Julian stepped down. The DFB are looking for a successor. And they're talking to me," he told MagentaTV.

Stach impressed throughout his first season at Leeds after arriving from TSG Hoffenheim last summer. He earned a March recall, playing 10 minutes against Switzerland and remaining unused versus Ghana.

An ankle injury late in the campaign threatened his World Cup prospects. The problem proved minor, yet he was omitted from Nagelsmann’s squad for this summer’s tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Germany advanced as Group E winners, then went out in the last 32, losing 4-3 on penalties to Paraguay after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

"I have an existing contract with Red Bull. But I've also made it clear that I'm interested in talks with the DFB."
