Chivas defender Antonio Briseño insists he has no regrets about his comments about América prior to the recent Clásico Nacional between the sides.
Speaking before that game at the Estadio Akron, Briseño claimed that Chivas had nothing to fear from a club that lacks “identity”.
The Guadalajara native could have been forgiven for being left red-faced by the Flock’s subsequent 3-0 defeat.
However, speaking at a press conference on Friday, Briseño stood over his words.
“At the end of the day this is what I think and this is my way of being, I live football that way,” the 27-year-old said.
“I do not regret anything I said. We will have a rematch and football is like that.
“Hopefully it will come soon, and if not, nothing happens. (América) is a great team, they won with good reason and we have to hold on, that’s what we are for, to endure the madrazos.”
Chivas will have much work to do when the Guard1anes 2021 campaign resumes after the international break.
Los Rojiblancos currently lie in 16th place, and they need to finish in the top 12 in order to reach the first round of the Liguilla.
