Sevilla’s transfer plans remain hemmed in by finances. According to La Colina De Nervion, hopes of extra income from Jules Koundé have faded, so attention has turned to a lower-cost midfield organiser.

The report says no further payments will arrive from Barcelona for the 2022 sale, with agreed variables already taking the deal to 55 million euros. A mooted 2.5 million euros bonus tied to the Frenchman playing 60% of games is now off the table.

With resources tight, previously linked targets such as Petar Stanić and Oskar Pietuszewski are considered difficult because of their price.

Focus has shifted to Alberto Reina as a candidate to refresh Sevilla’s midfield in 2026/27. The 28-year-old from Chiclana de la Frontera plays for Real Oviedo and came through Real Betis’ academy.

His pathway includes CD Alcalá, AD Ceuta and a strong spell at CD Mirandés before joining at the Carlos Tartiere. He is valued at around two million euros and is under contract until 2027.

A move could be eased if the Asturian side, currently bottom of LaLiga, drop to the second tier. Sevilla view him as a potential ‘conductor’ for a major midfield overhaul next summer, matching the brief for hungry, committed signings at sensible cost. The success of this work may hinge on Antonio Cordón’s ability to close such strategic deals without jeopardising financial stability.
