Sevilla sporting director Antonio Cordón is moving to secure arrivals before summer, aiming to avoid past late scrambles. The plan is already advanced, with targets focused on younger profiles, free agents and players with hunger.
Sevilla have announced the signing of Patrick Mercado from Independiente del Valle. Fabrizio Romano reports the deal is worth around six million euros, with the Ecuadorian playmaker due to join after the 2026 World Cup. Cordón moved ahead of strong Premier League interest, including Chelsea.
ABC de Sevilla reports that Arouna Sangante will join on a free from Le Havre. The 23-year-old Senegal centre-back, captain in Ligue 1, can also cover full-back and is seen as a structural addition.
Right-back Juan Iglesias is also close, with his Getafe contract running down. La Pizarra de Quintana revealed he passed a medical with Sevilla in January, making his arrival appear imminent.
Attention has now turned to midfield and Marius Marin, out of contract in June at Pisa, the option chosen to balance Matías Almeyda’s engine room. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Cordón held face-to-face talks in Italy, while Sky Sports says this would be a fourth deal completed before summer. The 27-year-old Romania international is viewed as bringing solidity and tactical rigour as Sevilla reshape their midfield.
