Antonio Cordón is shaping Sevilla’s 2026/27 squad, marrying early deals with a tight salary cap. According to ABC de Sevilla, legacy high salaries are still squeezing room.

Sevilla have secured two free moves, right-back Juan Iglesias of Getafe and centre-back Arouna Sangante of Le Havre, with Sangante tied to a five-year commitment.

An agreement worth six million euros with Independiente del Valle for Patrik Mercado has been announced, yet a serious right knee injury could derail the Ecuadorian’s arrival. Marius Marin of Pisa is on standby to join for free, though the deal remains open.

To register newcomers, Sevilla must cut costs, with Tanguy Nianzou, Joan Jordán and Rafa Mir among the highest outlays and each tied down for one more year. That will push Cordón towards sales or pay cuts.

Loan returns add strain. Rafa Mir has seven goals at Elche, but the option appears unlikely to be exercised and he faces a prosecutor’s 10-year prison request, with relations at Sevilla already fractured. Adrià Pedrosa, under contract to 2028, is set to return after a quiet spell under Luis García Plaza, while Alfon González’s Villarreal loan has faltered, his value down to three million euros and the seven million option looking improbable.
