Antonio joins Watford on one-year deal after 2024 car crash | OneFootball

Antonio has joined Watford, returning to English football less than two years after a serious car accident in December 2024.

According to L'Équipe, the 36-year-old Jamaican, formerly of West Ham, has agreed a one-year deal with the Championship club.

He was sidelined for a prolonged spell after crashing his Ferrari into a tree while driving back from a West Ham training session.

He is West Ham’s record Premier League scorer with 68 goals between 2015 and 2025. After a brief stint in Qatar with al-Sailiya in spring, making four appearances and receiving one yellow card, he was without a club.

The new number 18 said he regards Watford as a big club and hopes to help wherever he can. He noted he has scored seven times in 16 meetings against them in the Premier League or Championship, and hopes to do so for them once fully fit.
