Barcelona secured a hard-earned victory away at Albacete, and one of the standout figures on the night was captain Ronald Araujo.
Starting the match in a demanding environment, the defender not only led by example at the back but also produced the decisive moment with a powerful headed goal that ultimately sealed qualification.
After the final whistle, Araujo reflected on the nature of knockout football and the difficulty of seeing games through until the end.
“Cup games are a bit like this, they’re not decided until the very end.”
The Uruguayan centre-back talked about Barcelona’s focus and discipline throughout the contest, describing the display as “very serious”.
Explaining the importance of the goal, Araujo stressed how much it meant for the group’s confidence.
“The goal is very important for our confidence, to keep growing. I was able to help the team up front, which is essential.”
Araujo also spoke openly about Flick’s influence on the squad, offering warm praise for the German coach.
In his view, Flick’s man-management has been key, especially during difficult moments.
“Hansi is like a father to us. Everyone loves him dearly. He knows how to manage each player’s situation. I gave him a hug because he has been spectacular with me.”

Between the posts, Joan Garcia delivered another assured performance. Despite conceding once, he remained calm and commanded his area well on a quiet night overall.
After the game, Garcia spoke about Barcelona’s attacking improvement, stating,
“In recent games, we have lacked efficiency, but today we had chances. We have to keep working in this vein.”
Garcia has stepped up as the first-choice goalkeeper and is clearly embracing the responsibility. On the trust shown in him, he said,
“I’m very happy to be able to play. Whenever the coach thinks I should play, I want to show that I can perform and thank him for his confidence.”
He also praised Araujo’s return to the starting line-up, concluding,
“We are very happy for him. We wanted him to return to the starting lineup and get some good minutes, and he delivered with a goal.
“He is working very well, and he deserves it,” he added.
