Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has begun training on the grass and is expected to return to action soon, likely early next month.

As his return nears, however, so do rumours linking him away from the club, with some media outlets even claiming that his difficult start to life in Madrid has disappointed the club hierarchy.

In fact, it was also reported that the manager did not count on him and spoke to the player about how he is not a part of his plans going forward this season.

Far from the truth

Now, as confirmed by The Athletic in a recent update, the circulating rumours about Arbeloa and his lack of faith in the former Liverpool star are completely false.

The manager retains full trust in the summer signing and sees him to be one of the best in the world in his position, just as was the expectation when Trent arrived at the club.

The England international will return to playing very soon, and once back, he will be a critical part of Real Madrid’s plans. Arbeloa will rely on him heavily in the coming months.

The right-back was brought in as a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal in the summer, especially given how the team struggled at right-back last season.

The Spaniard has again had fitness struggles this time around, but Alexander-Arnold has been unable to capitalise having been affected by fitness setbacks himself.

In the few games that he has played, however, he has shown signs of promise with his attacking prowess and Real Madrid will hope to have him at his best very soon.

After all, they will need his genius as the season progresses to its business end.
