Benfica head coach José Mourinho could not help but allow his appreciation for the brilliance of Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois to show on Wednesday.

This comes after the Belgian produced nothing short of a world-class save.

Real Madrid are of course currently locked in action on the continent, in a Champions League meeting with Portuguese heavyweights Benfica.

As things stand in an all-action affair in Lisbon, the two sides are deadlocked at a goal apiece.

As much comes after Kylian Mbappé’s opener was cancelled out at the other end by Andreas Schjelderup.

And yet, Benfica still find themselves frustrated at not being in front…

Thibaut Courtois has been responsible for more than one brilliant stop between the posts for Real Madrid, one of which left the aforementioned José Mourinho in awe.

After the 33-year-old tipped what looked a certain goal for the hosts onto the crossbar, Benfica’s headmaster was spotted with a wide grin on his face, simply amazed by the excellence of his former club’s no.1:
