Adidas have unveiled a special Argentina shirt to mark Lionel Messi’s farewell to the national team, set for six October against Benin.

L'Équipe reports that the friendly should be the 39-year-old forward’s final outing for the Albiceleste.

The design, revealed on social media and accompanied by a few guitar notes, celebrates the number 10. The gold 10 on the back blends into the sun at the centre of Argentina’s flag, which appears in translucent form across the shirt.

The release is intended to accompany Messi in his final step with the national side. He has 207 caps and 125 goals, and lifted the World Cup in 2022. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has left a lasting mark on his country.

Before that farewell, Argentina will play Bolivia on 30 September and Burkina Faso on three October, without their former captain.
