Sevilla are moving to secure breakout full-back Joaquín Martínez Gauna, known as Oso, amid interest from Argentina in his international future.
According to Zona Mixta, Sevilla have opened renewal talks and want to include a 50 million euros clause, with his current deal running to 2027. The report adds that Lionel Scaloni is monitoring Oso for upcoming Albiceleste squads, while Spain, coached by Luis de la Fuente, also remain an option.
Born in Torrevieja to an Argentine father, Oso has surged this season after a long development as a raiding wing-back under Matías Almeyda and Antonio Cordón. His derby cameo at La Cartuja proved a landmark, coming off the bench to deliver a precise cross that Alexis Sánchez converted, helping Sevilla turn the match.
Sevilla’s wider summer build continues. The club have confirmed the imminent arrival of Ecuadorian prospect Patrick Mercado from Independiente del Valle, with late interest from Chelsea accelerating the move. All signs also point to Getafe right-back Juan Iglesias joining on a free.
While there is optimism over Oso’s extension and adjusted salary, the hierarchy are cautious given his rapid rise and growing market value. The contest for his services could now extend to the international stage if Argentina advance their interest.
