Argentine prospect Ivan Monteros bids farewell to Corinthians futsal

The fixed player Ivan Monteros is no longer part of Corinthians' futsal team. On the afternoon of last Tuesday (16), the 20-year-old Argentine used social media to say goodbye to the club from Parque São Jorge and has already arranged to join Noia Portus Apostoli, a team competing in the first division of Spanish futsal.

“Thank you very much, Corinthians, it was a pleasure to defend and represent this great club. It was a year full of lessons and learning experiences,” wrote the player in his farewell post to the club.

Signed as a promising international futsal talent, Monteros joined Timão after winning the South American U-20 title with Argentina in 2024, a tournament held in Peru. In the final, the Argentinians defeated Colombia 4-2. Throughout the campaign, the number 8 played a decisive role in eliminating the Brazilian National Team by scoring the first goal in the 2-0 victory over the Amarelinha.

Despite the expectations surrounding his arrival, Monteros had few opportunities in the main squad and mostly played for the U-20 team. He was called upon by coach Fernando Malafaia only in specific moments when the professional squad faced a series of injuries and needed to rely on youth players.

Even so, the Argentine was part of the team that won the São Paulo Cup at the beginning of the season and also participated in winning the Torneo Muchos Más. For the main team, he played in 21 matches, with 13 wins, three draws, and five losses, in addition to scoring three goals and providing three assists.

In the U-20 team, Ivan Monteros was one of the highlights in the victorious campaigns of the São Paulo Cup of the category and the U-20 Paulista Championship, as well as Timãzinho's participation in the Talentos LNF. His performance kept him as a frequent name in Argentina's youth selections and, more recently, also in the main team. In 2025, he won the South Zone title of the Liga Evolución and will compete in the tournament final against Brazil.

Besides Monteros, Corinthians has other confirmed departures in the futsal squad. Pivot Deives announced his retirement. Andrey, the U-20 top scorer, is expected to join Magnus, while the young Yann will play in Spanish futsal starting in 2026. Pivot Israel did not renew his contract and is also leaving the club.
