Argentine journalist Sebastián Srur reports RB Leipzig are keeping an eye on Exequiel Palacios. The central midfielder has only played against Jordan during the World Cup as defending champions Argentina lost to Spain in the final.
The 27-year-old has a contract until 2030 with Bayer Leverkusen. During yet another injury-riddled season, Palacios only played 18 times in Bundesliga in the 2025/26 campaign.
According to the report, Martin Demichelis is behind RB Leipzig’s interest. The Argentine coach replaced Ole Werner as the club prepare for their return to the Champions League. Palacios will initially be on a summer vacation before joining Leverkusen’s preparation for the upcoming season.
RB Leipzig already signed Borussia Mönchengladbach’s captain Rocco Reitz to replace the free agent Xaver Schlager. The 2022 World Cup winner Palacios joined Leverkusen from River Plate at the start of 2020.
