Arne Slot is ready to bring a ‘very impressive’ former Everton man to Liverpool this summer. The new boss is wasting little time.
Liverpool haven't done any senior transfer business this summer but that's not the only thing on the agenda at Anfield. While new players would be nice, the Reds also need to rebuild their backroom team.
Jurgen Klopp's exit meant a new 'head coach' but almost the entire coaching staff followed him out of the exit door. It left Arne Slot needing to find new names to assist him - a process that's firmly underway.

And one of those names knows Merseyside very well. Liverpool are set to hire John Heitinga, who spent four seasons at Everton in his playing days.
Heitinga was part of a golden generation at Ajax in the early 2000s before joining Atletico Madrid. From there he went to Everton in 2009, playing 140 games before leaving for Fulham in 2013.
His coaching career saw him work at Ajax's academy before taking on an interim role as head coach from January 2023 until May 2023. He was also on David Moyes's backroom team at West Ham United until this summer. Now he could be set to work at Liverpool.
Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan talked to TalkSport about the expected hire, claiming Heitinga was 'happy' to join Liverpool, despite his Everton connections.
“[Slot] has brought in Johnny Heitinga, a former Dutch international, more than 100 caps - played for Everton of course which, in one way, is remarkable he makes that choice," said Van der Kraan. "But then again, Heitinga, I understand said: 'Look, Everton could have brought me in but they didn't so my coaching career is carrying on' and he's happy to join Arne Slot.
“Heitinga was very impressive in the academy at Ajax, all the players like him, he's a very practical guy and has a massive background of a player. He played in a World Cup final in 2014 and can add something because Arne Slot, as a coach, doesn't have that.”
