Arne Slot says Pep Guardiola extending his stay at Manchester City is good news for the Premier League.
Guardiola’s deal at City was due to run out at the end of the season but he has penned a new two-year extension to remain at the club until 2027.
And Liverpool manager Slot expressed his admiration for Guardiola, labelling him as “maybe the best manager in the Premier League”.
“It’s good news for City and for the league because everyone wants the best managers and the best players over here,” Slot said.
“He’s won four titles in a row so it’s fair to say he’s maybe the best manager in the league.
“On the other hand, they have so many quality players that, if he would have made the choice to leave, I wouldn’t have expected them to end up bottom of the league next season.”
Guardiola, who joined City in 2016, has become the club’s most successful manager, securing 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League.
Liverpool go into this weekend’s Premier League clash against Southampton with a five-point lead over Guardiola’s side at the top of the Premier League table.
