Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed in the press conference on Thursday that he doesn’t expect Conor Bradley to feature against Manchester City.
The Reds will travel to Etihad Stadium on Sunday to face the Premier League champions, and they will be looking to pick up all three points.
Bradley came on as a substitute to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 66th minute during the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, but he got injured towards the closing stages of the game. Jarell Quansah replaced him.
While Liverpool are still waiting for results, it appears that Bradley has picked up another muscle injury, and he could be out for a while.
The 21-year-old is a highly talented right-back, but he is developing a bad habit of picking up injuries. He has already missed a lot of games through injuries this season, and Slot will be disappointed with the latest blow.
Slot said to the reporters: “No, he [Bradley] still has to come in, so we don’t know yet. I would be completely surprised if he’s involved in the Sunday game, or the Wednesday game against Newcastle. You can assume that’s not going to happen.”
Joe Gomez has undergone surgery to cure his hamstring problems, while Cody Gakpo is doubtful for the big game against City.
The injury to Bradley and Gomez means Slot will have Quansah as the only back-up option at centre-back and right-back areas.
Slot is carefully managing the game time of Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota, but he may have to change his plans now.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract in the summer, and there has been no indication whether he would sign a new deal at the club.
