Aron Csongvai joins Saint-Étienne on deal to 2030 | OneFootball

AS Saint-Étienne have signed Hungary international Aron Csongvai on a contract to 2030, the club said in a statement. The midfielder has been capped twice.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder moves from Swedish side AIK after one and a half seasons, recording 52 appearances, four goals and four assists.

He joined AIK in February 2025, having come through in Hungary with Ujpest, where he played 104 matches, then Fehervar with 66. He has also filled in at centre-back.

Csongvai will wear number 14. He becomes the fifth summer recruit for Les Verts and new head coach Ian Cathro after Sohaib Naïr, Jakob Breum, Mamour Ndiaye and Thierno Ballo.

Saint-Étienne begin their Ligue two campaign on eight August at 20:45 away to Sochaux. Pre-season opened with a 2-2 draw against Swiss third-tier side Biel Bienne, with a second friendly set for Saturday at 18:00 in Geneva behind closed doors against Servette.
