Arrascaeta’s season has been marred by injuries, the latest a left wrist fracture suffered on Monday 28 September in Uruguay’s friendly against South Korea, leaving Flamengo without their No 10 during a decisive run.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder’s first setback of 2026 came on 29 April against Estudiantes in the Libertadores group stage at Estadio Uno, where a collision and awkward fall fractured his right clavicle.

With the World Cup approaching and having been named in Uruguay’s list, he accelerated recovery and even reported early, with treatment overseen by the Celeste medical staff. As he neared fitness, he sustained a right calf injury in training and did not recover in time for the 2026 tournament.
