Arrascaeta has suffered a calf injury and will undergo tests to assess the extent. Carve Deportiva reports that the Flamengo midfielder could miss the World Cup.
Even so, he was named in Uruguay’s final squad on Tuesday and assigned the number 10 shirt.
He had surgery on his right clavicle in early May, though the current doubt over his availability is not related to that issue.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in Group H with Spain and Cape Verde, opening against Saudi Arabia in Miami on 15 June.
FIFA rules required final lists by one June. From now, changes are allowed only for serious injury or illness up to 24 hours before a team’s first match, and any replacement must come from the provisional list.
