Arrascaeta has been voted Flamengo’s best player of 2025, with Emerson Royal named the worst. According to Globo.com, the results came from a season poll.
Arrascaeta took 77.06% of the vote, ahead of Jorginho on 8.28% and Léo Pereira on 3.75%. Rossi polled 2.85% and Danilo 2.13%, with Varela, Léo Ortiz, Pulgar, Carrascal and Gerson also mentioned.
Aged 31, the No 10 played 64 matches, starting 56, scoring 25 goals and supplying 20 assists, surpassing his 2019 output. His form pushed the club to speed up a contract renewal, agreed in November through to 2028.
The vote for the poorest performer was tighter. Royal led on 32.18%, followed by Wallace Yan on 20.16%, Allan on 18.85% and Michael on 12.18%, with Juninho, Ayrton Lucas, Samuel Lino and Plata receiving smaller shares.
Signed in August for €9 million, around R$ 58.5 million at the time, Royal made 19 appearances, 15 as a starter. Varela ultimately claimed the position and the full-back did not meet initial expectations given the fee.
