Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s new tenure at Boca has opened with a sweeping trim of the senior squad, and the clear-out is gathering pace.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Juan Barinaga, Marcelo Weigandt, Agustín Martegani and Lucas Janson are no longer in the manager’s plans. The board are already seeking moves for the quartet, either permanent transfers or loans.

On the right flank, Barinaga and Weigandt have been crowded by numbers and did not secure the role with consistent performances. A defensive reshuffle requires those places to be freed for different profiles.

In attack, Martegani and Janson lacked continuity and impact in recent outings. The reset is intended to lighten the wage bill and inject fresh energy into the dressing room.

This phase sits within a wider overhaul that recently brought mutual terminations for Edinson Cavani and Ander Herrera. Both accepted that their physical problems did not fit the dynamic Arruabarrena wants for the first team.

The picture of departures extends further, with Nicolás Orsini, Juan Ramírez and Marcelo Saracchi also told to find new clubs at short notice.
