Arsenal and Brazilian club are apart in their valuation of young defender

Arsenal remain in discussions with Palmeiras as they look to secure the signing of Luiz Benedetti in the current transfer window. The teenage defender has been monitored by the Gunners for some time, with the club convinced that he has the potential to be an excellent long-term addition to their squad.

At just 19 years of age, Benedetti has already established himself as part of Palmeiras’ first team, but his development suggests that he may not receive immediate opportunities at Arsenal should he complete the move. It is widely expected that if he were to join the Gunners, he would be loaned out to gain further experience and playing time before being integrated into Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Ongoing Negotiations

Talks between the two clubs remain ongoing, but there is currently a clear difference in valuations. Arsenal are reportedly prepared to pay 10 million euros for the defender, whereas Palmeiras are holding firm at 15 million euros. The Brazilian club have insisted that Arsenal meet their asking price if they wish to complete the deal.

Despite the disagreement, negotiations have not broken down, and there is optimism that an agreement could still be reached before the close of the transfer window. Benedetti, for his part, is keen on a move to Europe but is not prepared to force the transfer. He believes that the time has come for him to take the next step in his career, yet he remains respectful of Palmeiras’ position and is leaving the matter in the hands of the two clubs.

Arsenal’s Perspective

A report from Sport Witness confirms that discussions remain ongoing, though no deal has yet been agreed. Arsenal’s interest in Benedetti underlines their commitment to securing emerging talent who can contribute to the club’s long-term success. While the young defender may not immediately feature in the first team, the potential to develop him either on loan or within the academy framework makes him an appealing target.

For now, Arsenal face the decision of whether to meet Palmeiras’ demands or risk missing out on a player they believe could become a valuable asset. The outcome will likely depend on whether the two clubs can find common ground on the fee and structure of the deal.
