Arsenal manager Renee Slegers has been named the Barclays Women’s Super League Manager of the Month for March.

This is the third time she has earned the award since taking over in October 2024, previously claiming the accolade in December and February.

Meanwhile, West Ham United’s Shekiera Martinez has been named as Player of the Month, becoming the first ever Hammers player to win the award after scoring three times, including two in a draw against Chelsea.

Slegers took charge following the departure of Jonas Eidevall after a string of poor results, but has revitalised Arsenal’s season since her appointment.

The Gunners currently sit second in the WSL, six points behind league leaders Chelsea, with four matches remaining.

March was particularly impressive for Slegers’ side, with the team’s 100% winning record in the league meaning she beat Manchester United boss Marc Skinner and West Ham’s Rehanne Skinner to the accolade.

They opened the month with a dramatic 4-3 comeback win over West Ham on 2 March, followed by a confident 3-1 away victory against Everton on 14 March.

Arsenal then put on two dominant displays, beating Liverpool 4-0 at the Emirates on 22 March and securing another 4-0 win away at Crystal Palace on 30 March.

In Europe, the Gunners reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate win over Real Madrid.

After losing 2-0 in Madrid, a magnificent second-leg comeback saw them progress, setting up a clash with European giants Lyon, while Barcelona and Chelsea will face-off in the other semi-final.

However, March wasn’t without disappointment as Arsenal’s FA Cup hopes ended with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

Under her tenure, Slegers’ Arsenal side leads the league in several major statistics: 2.64 points per game, 12 wins (joint-highest), 45 goals scored, +36 goal difference, and nine clean sheets (joint-highest).

Next up, Arsenal host Leicester City in the WSL on Tuesday 15 April, before turning their focus to a two-legged Champions League semi-final showdown with Lyon on 19 and 27 April.
