Arsenal 'close to finalising' deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga

Arsenal are on the verge of a deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

According to the Athletic's David Ornstein, the Londoners have stepped up their efforts to sign the Spain international as cover for first-choice stopper David Raya.

Mikel Arteta's side previously explored a possible move for Espanyol's Joan García but he is now expected to join their cross-city rivals Barcelona.

Kepa spent the previous campaign on loan with Bournemouth, making 31 outings in all competitions, after a similar spell at Real Madrid just 12 month earlier.

The 30-year-old's current contract at Stamford Bridge contains a £5m release clause which reflects his diminished status with the Conference League winners.
