Standard Sport understands that the Ligue 1 side will pay a loan fee, which will reduce depending on the number of games the England youth international plays.

There is no buy option in the deal.

Nwaneri, 18, broke into the Gunners’ first-team fold last term, but has found minutes restricted this season. Nwaneri was an unused substitute as Arsenal beat Inter Milan 3-1 at the San Siro on Tuesday night and has not started a match in the Premier League this season.

The move to France comes after the north Londoners had initially insisted that their young star would not be allowed to leave on loan, but a U-turn was made earlier this week and an agreement was quickly struck with Marseille.

Nwaneri was spotted in France on Wednesday holding up a Marseille scarf and heaping praise on head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

“Roberto De Zerbi is one of the best coaches in the world, he’s demanding,” Nwaneri said. “I’m ready to play under him and listen to what he wants for the team.”

Nwaneri played 37 times across all competitions last term, but has managed just 12 this, with most of those coming as a substitute.
