Arsenal have confirmed the end of Daniel Oyetunde’s loan spell with St. Albans City, with no extension to his initial short-term deal.

At the start of November, Daniel Oyetunde officially completed a loan transfer to St. Albans City, with Arsenal confirming that the move would last until the end of the month.

The suggestion was that the month-long duration of the deal was only the “initial” term, implying that if things went well enough, the young forward could perhaps extend his stay.

Yet Arsenal have now confirmed that the loan is over, with Oyetunde returning to Hale End.

Oyetunde made a decent start to life with St. Albans, immediately making an appearance by debuting as a substitute in the FA Cup the day after his move was confirmed.

The striker then scored one minute into his first league appearance, and he made a further appearance in the next league fixture the following midweek.

But St. Albans changed manager two days after that, and Oyetunde didn’t receive any further opportunities. Perhaps with the new boss settling in and finding his best team, the focus shifted away from a short-term loanee like Oyetunde.

Oyetunde kept training with Arsenal during his loan spell away, given the close proximity of the two clubs and the fact the Gunners obviously hold more regular training sessions as a fully-professional club.

The 19-year-old will now hope to break back into the Arsenal academy squads, given he’s yet to make any appearances for the u21s so far this season. He’ll have to be patient, as the Arsenal u21s aren’t in action again until January 9th.
