Arsenal are only targeting players that will "change the dial" in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Three additions have been made to the squad so far this summer, headlined by the £75million arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle.

That came after Illan Meslier was brought in to provide further competition in goal and Christos Tzolis signed following the departure of Leandro Trossard.

Arsenal have attempted to make a marquee signing in forward areas too, though saw their attempts to secure Morgan Rogers fall short after they failed to meet Aston Villa's valuation.

The club then pushed to make a sensational move for Vinicius Jr a reality, only for the Brazilian to decide to sign a new contract at Real Madrid.

It is now uncertain what business Arsenal will do in the final period of the window. Strengthening on the right side of the defence is a priority, while the club are also still open to another forward signing.

However, chief executive Richard Garlick has insisted that Arsenal intend on shopping only in the elite market.

"It's players that are going to take Arsenal forward," he told talkSPORT.

"In the past we've looked at players that maybe helped build out the squad or get us to a certain level, but now we're competing right at the top level, and we do need to bring in players that are going to change the dial.

"That might be younger players that come into your squad and give them time to develop, and you've seen that in the last couple of years at Arsenal.

"If we're able to combine those players that are coming through the academy with some of the best players in the world then we've got every chance of maintaining that success and going beyond what we've already achieved."

Garlick added: "The standard now is high, though - the bar's been set winning the Premier League title and getting to the Champions League final.

"We're probably fishing in a smaller pool of quality players, and that means that it's tricky to land those players that are going to drive Arsenal forward.

"But if the right opportunity presents itself, we'll certainly be exploring it."
