Arsenal Weigh Up Moves for Coman, Kounde and Guirassy in Summer Rebuild

Arteta Targets Reinforcements After European Statement

Arsenal’s comprehensive dismissal of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu – a 2-1 win on the night and 5-1 on aggregate – was a clear demonstration of how far Mikel Arteta’s side has come on the European stage. Yet, beneath the euphoria, there lies a pragmatic awareness: Arsenal’s Premier League challenge has faltered in recent weeks, and the squad’s lack of depth has been laid bare.

According to The Daily Star, Arsenal are already plotting summer reinforcements, targeting a trio of high-profile players: Kingsley Coman, Jules Kounde, and Serhou Guirassy.

Coman Considered for Wing Reinforcement

Kingsley Coman, the 27-year-old Bayern Munich winger, is on Arsenal’s radar. Despite being under contract until 2027, Coman has expressed interest in a “new challenge”, and Bayern are reportedly open to selling him to fund a reshuffle.

Arsenal’s admiration for Coman dates back to Edu’s tenure as sporting director. With Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his left flank, Coman could offer direct competition for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. His experience, particularly in Champions League knockout ties, could add another dimension to Arsenal’s attacking options.

Kounde Interest Linked to Barcelona Exit

Defensive reinforcements are also on the agenda. Arsenal are said to be “willing to make an offer” for Jules Kounde, depending on how Barcelona resolve Ronald Araujo’s contract situation. Should Araujo extend his stay, Barcelona may be forced to sell Kounde to generate much-needed funds.

The 26-year-old France international, while not a consistent starter under Xavi, remains a highly-regarded figure. A move to the Emirates would strengthen Arsenal’s right-sided options, potentially offering an upgrade or rotation for Ben White.

Guirassy’s Price Soars Amid Goal Rush

Up front, Arsenal’s long-standing interest in Serhou Guirassy appears to be resurfacing. The 29-year-old striker was available for just £14 million last summer, but after his prolific spell at Stuttgart and recent move to Borussia Dortmund, his value has skyrocketed. Sport Bild now claims his release clause stands at £60 million.

Guirassy is currently the Champions League’s top scorer, with 13 goals to his name – including a hat-trick against Barcelona. But the question remains whether Arsenal are willing to invest such a significant sum in a striker approaching 30.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

Let’s start with the obvious: Arsenal need depth. But these names, as exciting as they sound, raise more questions than they answer.

Coman, for instance, has never played more than 30 league games in a single season. His injury record is worrying, and Arsenal already have two excellent left-wingers. Why spend big on a player who might not even start regularly?

Kounde? Quality, no doubt. But is he really leaving Barcelona? They’ve played hardball in the past, and even if Araujo stays, it’s hard to see them letting Kounde go without a serious fee. And then where does that leave Tomiyasu and White?

And Guirassy – £60 million for a 29-year-old who had one standout season? That’s panic-buy territory. We’ve seen this before with late-blooming strikers; it doesn’t always translate to long-term value.

In short, all three are interesting profiles, but not necessarily the right fits. Arsenal need to be smarter, not splashier. If they’re going to challenge City and Madrid consistently, every signing needs to be tailored, not just eye-catching.
