Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton on Wednesday has mathematically confirmed Manchester City as WSL champions.

It brings an end to the club’s ten-year wait for the league title.

Manchester City have sat at the top of the WSL table since their 2-1 win over Everton back in November and boast the best attacking record in the league, having found the back of the net 58 times. Defensively, only Arsenal have conceded fewer.

Andrée Jeglertz’s side are also unbeaten on home turf and look set to complete a clean sweep of individual awards, too. Ayaka Yamashita is engaged in a fierce three-way battle for the Golden Glove, while Kerstin Casparij is the frontrunner in terms of assists and Khadija Shaw is seven goals clear in the race for the Golden Boot.

Jeglertz is also favourite to pick up the Manager of the Year award, having become just the second manager in WSL history to win the competition in his debut season.

He commented: “Helping guide this team to the WSL title is something I will never forget.

“The girls have met every challenge in front of them head on and have been an absolute joy to coach this season.

“In the good moments and the bad, they’ve always stuck together and found a way to win – something that all great champions do.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible effort, belief, passion and dedication of my colleagues, the players and the fans. They’ve all been a credit to the club as well as themselves and deserve to celebrate this amazing moment.

“But this isn’t the end of the road – we still have plenty to fight for this season and in the coming years. I’m excited by what the future holds for this amazing group of players and this fantastic club.”
