Arsenal have a brilliant chance to sign Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa on a cut-price deal this summer.

The London giants have had a quiet summer transfer window, but they are currently close to securing an agreement to land Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.

The Gunners also want to strengthen their frontline. A marquee striker remains a priority while they could also pursue another versatile wide player.

The club should swoop for Chiesa, who could leave the Bianconeri for just £21 million with his contract expiring in June next year.

Chiesa could be Trossard 2.0 on the right wing

Arsenal made the surprise signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion in January last year, and he has been an outstanding acquisition.

The Belgian registered one goal and ten assists during the second half of the 2022/23 season and added another 17 goals and two assists in the previous campaign.

Trossard started his Arsenal career as a substitute for Gabriel Martinelli, but he was an undisputed starter ahead of the Brazilian during the season run-in last term.

The Gunners should now sign Chiesa. The Italian would be a quality back-up option behind Bukayo Saka on the right wing next season.

Chiesa has played as a second striker or left winger at club level in recent years, but he has been most successful from the right flank with 64 goal contributions in 130 outings.

This has been his main role with the Italian national side. He had a concerning injury record after the 2020 European Championship, but he was largely unscathed last term, making 13 goal contributions from 2,500 minutes.

With his good dribbling skills and playmaking ability the £151,000-a-week star would be a fine acquisition, particularly with the low transfer fee involved.

The big question remains whether he would accept a reduced role behind Saka at Arsenal. If he is prepared to do so, it appears to be a no-brainer decision for the Gunners to sign him.
