Arsenal have held initial talks with West Ham United to discuss a deal to sign Mohammed Kudus.
Kudus is expected to leave West Ham this summer in search of European football. The Ghana international is of interest to several Premier League rivals, with Chelsea and Newcastle United each considering Kudus.
The 24-year-old impressed during his debut campaign at the London Stadium and scored 14 goals in all competitions. His performances dipped last season as West Ham struggled but interest remains high in his services.
Arsenal have now held exploratory talks to sign Kudus, according to Football Transfers. Kudus has a release clause of €100m (£84.3m) in his contract but Arsenal have informed West Ham that they have no intention of matching that fee. The Gunners value Kudus at around €55m to €60m (£46.3m to £50.5m).
The versatile forward is seen as an alternative to Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo for several sides, who is prioritising a move to Manchester United.
Kudus has 19 goals and recorded 13 assists in 80 appearances across all competitions since joining West Ham from Ajax. His flexibility adds to his appeal with the player having operated in various roles across the frontline.
In his debut season, Kudus led all players across Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons and ranked third on the same metric in 2024/25. Only Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku managed more.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both prioritising a left-sided forward, with Kudus having primarily featured from the right. However, initial discussions have taken place between the Gunners and West Ham as Arsenal consider a formal approach.
