Earlier this week, it was reported that Arsenal have emerged as a potential suitor for Real Madrid prodigy Victor Valdepenas.
A centre-back by trade, the youngster is regarded as one of the most promising players in La Fabrica right now, but he is yet to make a breakthrough in the first team.
This has led to Arsenal registering interest in the 19-year-old, as the Premier League giants look to lure him to a move to England.
The reports of Arsenal’s interest in Valdepenas have now been confirmed by BBC Sport, which suggests that the Gunners have held internal discussions surrounding the idea of signing the Real Madrid youth player.
Although Arsenal have yet to table an official offer for the player, they remain interested in the services of the young centre-back

The club have been monitoring the progress of Valdepenas in recent months. But they remain unsure whether or not to make a move in January or in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are quite well-stocked in defence, though, with former Real Madrid target William Saliba leading a defensive line that includes Gabriel Magalhaes, Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie.
Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Ricardo Calafiori are some of the other options available at the disposal of Mikel Arteta.
Valdepenas, for his part, is a centre-back by trade. But his left-footed abilities mean he can operate as a left-back as well, making him an even more appealing target for Arsenal.
Signing the youngster won’t be easy, though, as the player has a €50 million release clause tied to his Real Madrid contract. And with Los Blancos likely to undergo a defensive makeover next summer, it won’t be surprising to see Valdepenas seeing more action.
