Mikel Arteta could get major boost as Gunners head to Sunderland next
Jurrien Timber was a welcome returner at the Stadium of Light, but Mikel Arteta was dealt another defensive injury worry on Wearside.
The Gunners take on Ipswich in their next match this week in the Carabao Cup, before they travel to Brighton and Hove Albion ahead of the upcoming international break.
William Saliba is yet to play for Arsenal this season, having worsened his back injury during France’s run to the World Cup semi-finals earlier this summer.
He is still set to be out for an “extended period”, according to his club.
“We don’t really know the amount of weeks Wilo [Saliba] is going to be out because it’s about a healing process and everything is a bit different - we know we have to respect certain timings,” Arteta said of the centre-back.
“The progression has been really positive in the last few weeks, but we need to wait and see how that one reacts when we start to put some load into it.”

Mosquera has missed the last four matches with a muscle injury suffered at Aston Villa.
He has since sat out the matches against Chelsea, Napoli and Sunderland.
However, Arteta believes he could be ready to face Ipswich this week.
“He’s doing really well,” he said of the Spaniard last week. “Let’s see if he can get [back] for this game, it will be around that time.

White is a worry after he was withdrawn at half time against Sunderland.
The right-back was seen holding his groin on Wearside, where he was replaced by the returning Timber.
He had looked in discomfort in Naples earlier in the week, and he could now be set for a spell on the sidelines.
