Louie Copley’s loan to Crawley Town has been a positive one when he’s been fit, but the issue is that he’s had so many injury setbacks in his four-month spell at the club.

Copley was out of action for three games between January and February, and in his return match against Tranmere Rovers he suffered a setback ruling him out of Crawley’s next seven fixtures.

After five games back in the team, Copley picked up a third injury to miss last week’s match against Accrington Stanley. The midfielder then returned to the starting lineup against Salford City on Saturday, only to suffer his fourth injury and come off after 32 minutes.

Copley’s first two injuries were definitely related, as he returned too early, before he was fully fit. But it’s unclear what his most recent two knocks have been, and whether they’re also related to the same ankle problem.

The good news is that the season is over, and Copley can use the summer to properly get fit again.

Though the 19-year-old ultimately only made nine appearances for Crawley Town, the team achieved their goal of avoiding relegation, drawing their final match 0-0 against promotion-hopefuls Salford to finish one point above the relegation zone.

Copley was involved in three vital wins and two draws along the way, and he provided an assist from midfield in a game against Bristol Rovers. The Arsenal academy youngster is now off the mark in senior football, and he’ll hope for more in 2026/27.
