In a recent segment on Youtube, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Arsenal remain keen on recruiting Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. Romano said,

“Arsenal have told those close to the deal to keep them informed if Julián decides to open the door to a return to English football.

“The player’s position remains the same. He is not against Arsenal, but he wants Barcelona. It is not about Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern or PSG. Alvarez only wants Barcelona.

“Arsenal respect the fact that the player is very expensive, but financially they can try to find a way. If over the next eight days Alvarez changes his mind, Arsenal want to know immediately so they can return to negotiations,”

Alvarez’s Impressive Numbers In La Liga

Alvarez enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club in the previous campaign when he produced a run of impressive displays for them up top. The Argentina international scored 20 goals and earned nine assists in 49 matches for Atletico Madrid last season in all competitions.

The Calchin-born talent is currently among the most talented forwards in La Liga. Hence, it is no wonder that Arsenal are eyeing a move for him in this transfer period.

His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for the Gunners to land him on the cheap this month.

What Will Alvarez Bring To Arsenal?

Alvarez is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Argentine sensation can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Alvarez is primarily a centre-forward but can also serve as a winger on either flank if asked to do so. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal.

Alvarez would bring more firepower to Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium this season.

At 26, Alvarez’s best years are ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the North London club to pursue in this transfer period. He will also help Arsenal compete for some major honours over the next few years.
