Striker no longer has a £55m release clause in his contract
RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose has dismissed talk of Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko leaving the club in January.
The Gunners were strongly linked with the striker in the summer and that interest remains, particularly with the Gunners short in attack after injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
Sesko has 12 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this season, including three in the Champions League, and reports have suggested Arsenal are considering making a move for the 21-year-old this month.
However, asked at a press conference about the possibility of Sesko leaving Leipzig mid-season, Rose said: “That’s not the case, not the topic for us.”
Arsenal pushed to sign Sesko in the summer when he had a release clause of £55million, but the striker ultimately decided to extend his contract at Leipzig through to 2029.
His new deal has removed the release clause and it means the Bundesliga club are in a strong position should they decide to sell.
There have been some claims that Arsenal are keen on a loan deal for Sesko with an option to buy in the summer, but his agent Elvis Basanovic has confirmed that the Slovenian is not available for loan.
"I have never talked with Arsenal about a loan move for Sesko,” Basanovic told GiveMeSport.
“Sesko is not a player for loans and this was never a topic with Arsenal or any other club. If you ask me if Sesko will move in January, I can only say Sesko is a RB Leipzig player and fully focused on that."
