Future planning is set to pay off for the Premier League champions

Arsenal are set to bank a transfer windfall from Folarin Balogun’s impending move on Deadline Day.

The former Gunners striker, 25, is poised to return to the Premier League with Everton before the close of the summer transfer window after a £40million deal was agreed with Monaco.

Arsenal should be in line to receive approximately £6.7m from the sale of Balogun, who left north London for Ligue 1 in the summer of 2023 for a fee in the region of £34m.

The United States international initially joined Arsenal at the age of eight and graduated through the academy ranks, making 10 senior appearances and scoring two goals before departing for Monaco following loan spells at Middlesbrough and Reims.

Balogun has since notched 31 times and provided 13 assists in 91 total outings for Monaco, while he impressed at the recent World Cup in North America before becoming the subject of controversy when his one-game ban for being sent off against Bosnia and Herzegovina was suspended ahead of the last-16 defeat by Belgium.

Balogun is not the only former Arsenal player whose deadline day transfer is set to net a profit for the Gunners in the final hours of the summer window, which closes at 11pm BST on Tuesday night (September 1).

It is understood, per Fabrizio Romano, that the reigning Premier League champions also have a sell-on clause for another academy graduate in Brooke Norton-Cuffy.

The 22-year-old right-back left Arsenal for Italian club Genoa for around £1.7m in August 2024, having been dispatched for several loan spells in the EFL with Lincoln, Rotherham, Coventry and Millwall.

Norton-Cuffy is now also poised to return to English football with newly-promoted Hull, who have agreed a permanent transfer worth around €14m (£11.9m).

Arsenal have opted against pursuing a deal for Malick Fofana on Deadline Day, with the Lyon winger instead on his way to Sunderland for approximately £30m.

The Gunners are running out of time to pull off a blockbuster last-gasp move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and have agreed the signing of Georgian teenager Andria Bartishvili, while Ethan Nwaneri is joining Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan that includes no option for a permanent transfer.

Gabriel Martinelli is poised to complete a £60m switch to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, while Gabriel Jesus will join Barcelona for a fee of £8.6m.

Fabio Vieira is likely to return to Hamburg, while Tommy Setford and Jaden Dixon are among the Arsenal youngsters who could still leave on loan before the deadline.
