Arsenal have completed the signing of England centre-back Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa in a deal worth up to £55 million. The 28-year-old has signed a four-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.

According to The Athletic, the fee is £51 million up front with a possible £4 million in add-ons, after Konsa completed his medical. He joins the Premier League champions to deepen Mikel Arteta’s defensive options.

His arrival continues Arsenal’s summer business, following the signings of Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes and Illan Meslier.

Speaking before their Community Shield victory over Manchester City, Arteta said: "We want to improve and evolve the squad. In order to do that we have detected some areas that can be strengthened and that is what we are trying to do."

Konsa leaves Villa Park after 286 appearances since 2019, fresh from helping Thomas Tuchel’s England reach the 2026 World Cup semi-finals. He departs amid a busy window for Unai Emery’s side, with Morgan Rogers joining Chelsea, Lucas Digne returning to Paris Saint-Germain, and Youri Tielemans moving to Manchester United, while speculation continues over Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins.

Comfortable at right-back as well as centre-half, he adds cover with William Saliba managing a back issue and Jurrien Timber sidelined by a groin injury.
