The deal is worth a reported £51 million, with a further £4 million available in add-ons.

The 28-year-old has signed a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal holding an option to extend the deal by another year. He becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer as Mikel Arteta’s side look to defend their Premier League title and challenge for the Champions League.

Konsa’s versatility will be particularly valuable, with the England international capable of playing both centre-back and right-back. Arsenal are currently set to be without William Saliba and Jurriën Timber at the start of the season due to injury.

Konsa spent seven seasons at Villa after joining from Brentford in 2019 and was an important part of their Europa League-winning campaign last season. He also represented England at the 2026 World Cup, helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals.

The defender will not feature in Arsenal’s opening Premier League game against Coventry on Friday, meaning his debut could come against his former club Villa next Monday.

His departure represents another significant loss for Villa, following the exits of Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans.
