Arsenal star gets double nomination for monthly Premier League award

It is a new season, but it is the same outstanding David Raya in goal for Arsenal, with the Spaniard continuing to impress since the campaign began. He has earned two nominations for the Premier League Save of the Month award for September.

Raya has won the Golden Glove in every season he has played as an Arsenal player and remains one of the most reliable goalkeepers in European football. His performances have continued to make him an important part of the Gunners’ team.

Raya continues to impress for Arsenal

Last season, his superb saves, which have sometimes been magical, helped the Gunners end two decades of hurt by winning the Premier League title. Raya played an important role throughout their successful campaign.

A few weeks later, he was part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup, although he remained the backup to their first-choice goalkeeper. Raya has since returned for the new season in excellent shape and has continued to demonstrate his quality.

His performances have already earned recognition again, with two of his saves from September being nominated for the Premier League award. The nominations reflect his contribution to Arsenal’s strong start to the campaign.

Raya receives further recognition

Arsenal Media reports that Raya’s save to deny Estevao a certain goal has been nominated by the Premier League, alongside his penalty save against Sunderland. The save against Estevao came after the Brazilian had played the ball towards the top corner, with Raya managing to keep it out.

The penalty against Sunderland should not have been given, but Raya’s save ensured that the game remained goalless. A few minutes later, Arsenal took the lead and went on to win the match, continuing their winning start to the season.

Raya’s ability to produce important saves at crucial moments has once again proved valuable for Arsenal. His two nominations for September also underline the quality he has shown since the beginning of the campaign.

With the season still developing, Raya will be hoping to maintain his current level and continue providing Arsenal with dependable performances between the posts.
