Arsenal playmaker Eberechi Eze admitted that Mansfield Town created a “difficult environment” to play in after squeaking past the third tier outfit on Saturday.
The Gunners were given a scare after Will Evans cancelled out Noni Madueke’s opener as the Stags created a number of openings across the 90 minutes at Field mill.
Eze, however, unleashed a powerful strike in the 66th minute to secure a narrow victory for the visitors and progression to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
“Happy to score. I had the space and the opportunity to shoot. So I took it,” he told TNT Sports after the final whistle.
“It was a difficult environment to play in. But we did what we had to do and we are through to next round which is the important thing.
“We are working hard and we are focussing on the process. Otherwise, we won’t get there. We are working hard and doing everything we can to win all the silverware on offer.”
Arsenal remain in contention to win four competitions this season, with Mikel Arteta’s side also in the League Cup final, the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League and on top of the Premier League table.
