Arsenal star set for a huge pay rise when he pens new deal

Max Dowman will sign his first professional contract at Arsenal when he turns 17 in December, and the youngster is expected to receive a significant increase in his earnings when that happens.

The 16-year-old continues to make an impact whenever he steps on the pitch for the Gunners, although the club are managing his minutes carefully and doing their best not to place too much pressure on him.

Fans were calling for Dowman to receive more opportunities at the Emirates as the season began, and he got his chance against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup, which he took with both hands.

Dowman is regarded as one of the finest talents in English football, and he was even tipped for a call-up to the Three Lions for the last World Cup after performing well during the title-winning season.

Dowman set for significant pay rise

Dowman will have opportunities to represent England at several World Cups if he continues to develop and perform at his current level. For now, however, the attacker is also preparing for a major change in his financial situation.

A source tells Football Insider that when Dowman signs his professional contract, he is likely to receive an increase of around 11,300 per cent on his current earnings at the club.

The reported rise would represent a huge change for the youngster, who is still only 16 and has been carefully managed by Arsenal as he begins to make his mark with the first team.

The increase would also reflect the importance Arsenal place on his development, particularly as he continues to receive opportunities to play alongside more established members of the squad.

The report says Dowman is expected to see his wages increase from £350 a week to £40,000 a week when he signs his professional agreement.

That would represent a dramatic increase in earnings and underline the progress he has made since breaking through at Arsenal. His performances have already generated considerable attention, while the club have continued to manage his involvement carefully.

Dowman will now have to continue developing while adapting to the demands of first-team football. Arsenal clearly see significant potential in the youngster, and his professional contract will mark another important stage in his progression.
