Taylor Hinds has been named in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for friendlies against Brazil and Australia this month, but Jamaica have not given up hope of bringing her back into the Reggae Girlz fold.
Busby confirmed that conversations with Hinds have continued and described the situation as “up in the air”.
He said: “I think she’s actually alluded to that. Her future is up in the air and she hasn’t made a final decision yet. We respect that. We’ve had numerous conversations and communications up to yesterday, and we respect her decision at this time.”
Hinds, who joined Arsenal from Liverpool this summer, has represented both England and Jamaica at different stages of her career. She came through the England youth setup before making her senior debut for Jamaica in a friendly against France last year.
Posting on Instagram following her England call-up, Hinds wrote: “It’s a privilege to have two nationalities and I’m incredibly proud to represent both. I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for Jamaica. They’ve been so understanding and genuinely want the best for me, which means a lot.
“Being called up to represent England is an amazing feeling and opportunity. I know what it means to wear the shirt, to be a Lioness, and it truly means everything to me and my family.”

Busby said Jamaica’s administrative delays had contributed to her limited involvement with the Reggae Girlz, explaining: “It’s unfortunate in terms of some of the matches we would have liked to have got her in previously. But some of the paperwork, and again, some of the things were outside of our control and outside of her control.”
Wiegman, who is aiming for World Cup glory following England’s Euro 2025 triumph, said Hinds’ call-up reflected her long-term planning. “We have been following Taylor for a long time,” she said. “She’s come through the pathway. She has dual heritage so she’s eligible for us. We started having conversations and she hasn’t played much, but we are in a new cycle and I want to see talented players in some different positions.”
Busby, however, stressed that Jamaica will keep the door open. “It is a friendly, so I think that’s where it comes in. As long as they continue to be friendlies, the same way she played for us and be able to go back, is the same way that she would still be able to make that decision,” he said.
Hinds’ selection alongside Arsenal teenager Katie Reid and Lucia Kendall highlights Wiegman’s intent to refresh her squad, but for now, Jamaica remain hopeful that one of their most promising dual nationals has not closed the door entirely.
